It was a wild Rey Mysterio day in WWE today, as World Wrestling Entertainment broke headlines worldwide on 6/19. Win Column Sports has all your WWE news prior to tonight’s Smackdown Live!

Big Cass Released

WWE made waves just after noon MST, announcing the release of Big Cass. What’s surprising is the timing of the move; while Cass was rumoured to be unpopular backstage, he was coming off of what many consider to be his best singles match on Sunday, and looked poised to be positioned as a top heel on Smackdown Live. While there’s not much more to go off of right now, it’s interesting to note that WWE.com’s official statement on Big Cass’ release didn’t wish him well in his future endeavours, as these statements usually do.

Win Column Sports will have more as the story develops.

New NXT Tag Team Champions Crowned

NXT is home to new Tag Team Champions after Moustache Mountain - Trent Seven & Tyler Bate - defeated the Undisputed Era. The title change happened at the tapings for the WWE United Kingom Championship, currently being held in London, England. While WWE spoiled the news of the title change themselves, the actual change won’t be shown until the June 26th edition of NXT.

Noam Dar Returns - #1 Contender

After being sidelined with an meniscus tear since November, Noam Dar made his return to WWE tonight in a Fatal Four Way match to determine the #1 contender for the United Kingdom Championship. Not only did Dar return, but he pinned Mark Andrews to solidify his status as Pete Dunne’s next challenger. Again, this will air on the June 26th episode of NXT.
