EDMONTON, AB - A brand-new wrestling event is set to take Edmonton by storm, as Pro Wrestling YEG has announced its first show will take place on April 13, 2019. Organized by former professional wrestler Mike Cook, the event hopes to raise over $30,000 for the Edmonton-based Kids with Cancer Society.

“I first got connected to the Kids With Cancer Society through Jed Winter, who organized a fundraiser called Squats for Tots,” said Cook. “They managed to raise a ton of money for them over the past five years, so we’re really excited to have Jed on board to help us make this event a huge success.”

“Childhood cancer is scary enough on its own. I’m a big believer in how the Kids With Cancer Society supports the needs of children and their families as they face these challenges head-on. Edmonton is a big city with the heart of a small town, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with the community to make this event a huge success.”

P.W.A Partnership

The event will be hosted in conjunction with the Edmonton-and-Calgary based Prairie Wrestling Alliance. The promotion, which has run in Edmonton for over 17 years, features some of the most talented independent wrestlers in the world today.

“I’ve been connected with PWA Wrestling for over 15 years,” commented Cook on the partnership’s development. “I debuted with the promotion in 2003 and have always had a strong relationship with the company. Many of my closest friends have come through wrestling, and I’m still pretty closely connected with some of the guys on the current roster”.

Names already confirmed for the card are P.W.A Champion Sheik Akbar Shabaz, “the Western Lions” Michael Richard Blais and Brandon Van Danielson, “The Omen” Gabriel and veteran Azrael. More participants are expected to be announced in the months preceding the event.

Tickets for the event can be purchased for $30 each at ProWrestlingYEG.com. However, even those who are unable to attend the event are able to donate, with a tax-deductible receipt available for any donations over $15. Registration for additional fundraising is also available on the website - with a unique prize involved.

“The person who raises the most money for the Kids with Cancer Society will be named the inaugural Community Champion and will get to carry the Pro Wrestling YEG championship belt around our great city,” remarked Cook.
