NXT Preview - February 7, 2021

NXT is back to tapings for the foreseeable future, as the build to New Orleans begins tonight (on television) - the biggest show of the year for NXT. The potential card for this show is incredible; it feels like they could comfortably put on a 3 hour show and nobody would complain at all. As always, I’m @Parkman15Love , and lets get into night one of tapings! Here is Win Column’s official NXT Preview for February 7th, 2018.

Note: Spoilers are out there if you don’t have the time, but many people prefer to follow along.

The Main Event

WWE.com is announcing that Johnny Gargano will appear live on NXT tonight. In his first televised appearance since his five star match with Andrade Cien Almas, do we see the feud continue? Personally, I don’t see any way that it should. Almas holds three wins over Johnny Wrestling, with the last win coming relatively clean. I’ve never thought two people should fight forever though, but Gargano and Almas have made me want to see them fight again and again. One more match wouldn’t hurt at all, I think.

Or…will it finally be time for Gargano to turn his attention to Tommaso Ciampa? A crutch shot to the back was a reminder that the Sicilian Psychopath will always be there to haunt Johnny Wrestling until they settle their differences. Speaking of Ciampa, will we see him tonight? His appearance in Philadelphia was short, and he looked as if he had a serious limp still. If we see him tonight, it should hopefully give us an idea of how healed he is.

Announced Matches

The rest of the show is built around the feud between The Undisputed Era vs SAniTY. The first match between them will feature Eric Young and Alexander Wolfe taking on Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish. These two groups have history, with TUE taking the titles from Young and Wolfe back in December. As well, SAniTY acted as equalizers in the match between Adam Cole and Aleister Black at TakeOver. Seeing how this match doesn’t have the titles on the line, it’s a match that’s up in the air.

UPDATE: I was misinformed. This match will be for the NXT Tag Team Championships, as per WWE’s Instagram. Feel free to let me know about my mistakes!

The other announced match is Adam Cole vs Killian Dain. Killian Dain is a pretty god damn impressive athlete. I mean, he hit a coast to coast at War Games.

I love both these wrestlers: they’re really capable of stealing the show when given the proper time. But can Adam Cole get a clean win here? The Undisputed Era has to realize that Killian Dain is really the difference between their groups; do we see Fish, Cole and O’Reilly try and take him out? Or will the chaos that both these teams love take over in this match?

State of the Belts

Pete Dunne has a new #1 Contender in the form of Roderick Strong after last week’s episode. Now, I can’t understand why Roderick gets to compete for two championships, but I’m not as confused by WWE’s logic as I have been in the past. Dunne vs Strong should be a great match at some point down the road. Pete Dunne could not have looked less worried though after Strong’s victory over Tyler Bate, though.

Ember Moon survived Shanya Baszler in Philadelphia. Ember probably won’t take too kindly either to the fact that she got attacked after the match in addition to her arm injury. Ignoring the fact that she went on to compete less then 24 hours later, Moon should be pissed. I fully expect this feud to continue onto New Orleans. Or maybe we see the healthy Kairi Sane back in action, fresh off a Rumble appearance for her as well?

Extra Thoughts

WWE.com
  • The Dusty Rhodes Classic is back - who do you think wins it this year? My money is on War Machine.
  • If the rumor mill is to be believed, get well soon Lars Sullivan. I’ll miss the guy destroying anyone and everyone in sight.
  • Do Peyton Royce and Billie Kay work for NXT anymore? Rumors are out that they underwent surgery, but not for an injury… Hope to see the iconic duo back on TV soon though. They’re super entertaining.
  • Will we continue to hear from TM61? Or any of the new signings - Ricochet and ECIII, i’m looking at you!

That’s all from me! Will you be watching tonight? Or will you take a look through spoilers? Let me know @Parkman15Love or follow along with @WCSportsCa for all your latest WWE news!
