BONNYVILLE, AB - 2019 is shaping up to be the year of the dream wrestling match in Alberta, Canada.

Lakeland Pro Wrestling is set to make a major splash in its second-ever event, as the promotion recently announced the main event for its upcoming Chaper 2: Retribution event. On January 12, 2021 - one night after Michael Richard Blais faces Pride in Radway, Alberta - RCW Champion Christian Strife will face off with former UFC fighter Mitch “Danger Zone” Clarke for the first time one-on-one.

Here we are,” remarked Strife. A wrestler who got into MMA, and an MMA Fighter who’s getting into wrestling. The only thing I know for certain is that we’re going to beat each other up, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Over the past year, Strife vs. Clarke is a match that’s been brandished as one of the top matches to not yet happen in Alberta. The two combatants have remarkably similar backgrounds, with the two participating in a variety of combat sports prior to their wrestling careers. Both also pride themselves on their ability to strike hard and often, with Strife even earning the nickname the Saint of Striking.

That doesn’t phase the man known as Danger Zone, however.

I have all the respect in the world for my opponent Strife but not for one second do I fear him,” responded Clarke, a former Monster Pro Wrestling Tag Team Champion. “(Strife) may be the veteran in this match, but I am the King of Combat Sports and will do everything in my power within the rules to win. I’m here to become the best and when I’m going leave it all out there January 12.

Clarke is a name that even fans outside of professional wrestling will recognize. A multi-sport athlete, Clarke is a former UFC fighter and current freestyle wrestler as well. Boasting an 11-5 all-time MMA record, he’s one of the most well-rounded athletes in Alberta today. It’s evident in his professional wrestling record; since transitioning to sports entertainment, Clarke has already become a tag team champion, with his sights set on further accolades in the future.

However, that’s no reason to doubt the Real Canadian Wrestling Champion, says Strife.

If Mitch Clarke wants to be the next Ken Shamrock, the next Dan Severn, the next Minoru Suzuki, then he better take all that talent that brought him to the UFC and bring it to Bonnyville on January 12th,” Strife remarked. “For those fans out there who have yet to see me, and for Mitch himself, let me give you a peek into just who I am: I am Christian Strife. I am the Saint of Striking. My favourite thing is hitting people. My second favourite thing is getting hit. Let’s find out where those two things sit on your list, Mitch.

Tickets for Chapter 2: Retribution can be purchased by contacting the talent and staff of Lakeland Pro Wrestling.
